Hello and welcome to the SBB Community. What would you like to do?
I'm looking for train tickets from Zurich HB to Brienz, and I found one that says it's about CHF 22. But when I select it, it jumps to CHF 44, with no explanation why. Maybe this is obvious for someone more familiar with the train system, but this is my first time and I'm very confused, any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Emily
Hi @ejclaus11
Thank you very much for your question.
Prices stated at the beginning of a connection search are always marked as "from CHF xx.xx", because that is the least expensive option possible.
When you proceed with the purchase, you select your name, surname, age and available reduction. If you don't have any, you select "no reduction".
A very common reduction card in Switzerland is the Half-fare Travelcard, which allows holders to travel with 50% discount.
This means in your journey example that full price is CHF 48.00 and half fare is CHF 24.00
If you live in Switzerland and travel regularly by train, I suggest you buy the Half-fare Travelcard: as you can see, it pays for itself very quickly.

I wish you a nice day
