Using Swiss Half Fare Card to buy tickets in advance

I have purchased a Swiss Half Fare Card/Family Card for my children.  I would like to use this to purchase tickets in advance for use during the time of validity.  Can you tell me how to do this in the app?  It shows that I have a Swiss Family card, but it doesn't register the discount.  It allows me to enter my customer number to link to Swiss Pass, but I do not have a customer number.

In the app, go to Settings in the left upper corner. Choose 'Travelers' and tick the 1/2 fare checkbox in your personal details.
