Swiss travel pass 2+2 and Glacier Express

MichałKilijański
New Author

Hi everyone,

I'm going to purchase an 8-day Swiss Travel Pass for me and my wife. We will travel with 2 children (age 12 and 13). As far as I know, we don't have to pay for children in any of public transport (excluding seat reservations) if we get Swiss Family Card. Does this rule apply to the Glacier Express or Bernina Express? I mean, do my children travel free of charge (excluding seat reservations) in Glacier or Bernina if me and my wife have Swiss Travel Pass? Same question about Rigi and Stanserhorn.

Thank you in advance,

Michal

Hello @MichałKilijański

Thank you for your query.

You can see where the STS is valid on the area of validity under "Downloads". It is valid for free travel on panorama trains where you only need to buy a reservation. You can find more informations under the following link: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-travel-pass....

I wish you a nice day.

Kind regards, AferditaH

Thank you @AferditaH for confirming these information. It's very convenient, especially when travelling by Glacier.
However, I assume Rigi and Stansenhorn excursions are not free of charge for my children even if I hold a valid STS? Is that correct?
Kind Regards,
Michal

Hello @FatimaH
Of course I familiarized with link you mentioned. It is just not obvious if this part concerns children. According to rules, holders of STS are free of charge in mountain excursions, I am aware of it. Children travel for free with their parents holding STS, I am aware of this rule as well. I was not sure if children take advantage of ALL benefits for free (i. e. mountain excursions or museums), not only transport.
In this case, STS is even better for us than I thought, I'm going to buy STS for me and my wife, Swiss Family Card for children and we will be able to enjoy all available attractions for free 🙂
Have a nice day,
Michal
