Swiss Travel Pass Flex versus 1 month GA travel card

Hello,

We will be traveling to Switzerland and staying for a month in the Fall 2023.  We are US citizens and will be traveling solely on public transport.  My questions:

1. Can we get a 1 month GA travel card for the first time? I have read on line but am confused about having a Swiss Pass account to get the travel card.

I priced the travel card versus 30 days (two 15 day flex Swiss Travel Pass) of the pass and the travel card was 1/2.

If someone could please provide some clarity.
