A swisspass card is not a travelcard. It's a data medium. We use the swisspass card to download subscriptions for the public transport on it.
If you don't live in Swiss and will be here for a short time, you don't actually need a swisspass card or a GA. I advice you the Swiss Travel System
A Swiss Travel Pass gives you unlimited travel by train, bus and boat and if you are travelling also with kids from their 6th up to their 16th birthday, when they travel accompanied by at least one parent holding a Swiss Travel System ticket, they will be free of charge with the complimentary Swiss Family Card.
