Hello and welcome to the SBB Community. What would you like to do?
We plan on purchasing your Half Fare Card (120 CHF). How far in advance do we need to purchase it to have it in hand for the start of our trip? Is it sent via email within 24 hours or does it take longer.
Hello @Frab
The Half-Fare Card is issued on an SBB card called "SwissPass" and is not sent by mail. Subscriptions can be issued no more than 2 months in advance.
More infos you'll find on the following link: https://www.sbb.ch/en/help-and-contact/produkte-services/travelcards/ga-and-half-fare-travelcard/hal...
You can also reach us at the Contact Center on 0041 848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).
I wish you a nice day 🙂
Kind regards, VlaznimA.
Thanks but the website you show says it gets mailed by post but you said no to that. Does it get emailed to me same day as I order it? I want to be sure I have it in hand when I arrive but I'm reluctant to order it early due to changing covid restrictions.
Hello @Frab
Oh sorry, my fault. I wanted to write: … not via e-mail. You‘ll receive it via letter because it will be on a physical card (SwissPass). You can also buy it directly on a SBB counter, as soon you arrive in Switzerland. This way you can choose also same day validation and you‘ll get it on the counter.
Kind regards, VlaznimA.
Great and thanks. I assume when we arrive in Geneva Airport it won't be difficult to find the counter to make the purchase?
Thanks again. And I will receive it, via email, the same day correct? I don't need to order it a few days early? It is important I know this as we arrive in Geneva at 7:30 in the morning and the SBB ticket offices don't open until 9.
Thanks everyone. On this website for the card I couldn't find where it said you get it by email. Perhaps I missed that but if not it would be great to have that added. On the Switzerland travel centre site (https://shop.switzerlandtravelcentre.com/?affiliateId=71&system=GB&affiliateid=71&affc=2b95327a-19f9...) it clearly says
"Available as print@home ticket / eTicket"
