Monthly Half Fare Card (120 CHF) for non-residents

Frab

We plan on purchasing your Half Fare Card (120 CHF). How far in advance do we need to purchase it to have it in hand for the start of our trip? Is it sent via email within 24 hours or does it take longer.

Hello @Frab

The Half-Fare Card is issued on an SBB card called "SwissPass" and is not sent by mail. Subscriptions can be issued no more than 2 months in advance.

More infos you'll find on the following link: https://www.sbb.ch/en/help-and-contact/produkte-services/travelcards/ga-and-half-fare-travelcard/hal...

You can also reach us at the Contact Center on 0041 848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.).

I wish you a nice day 🙂
Kind regards, VlaznimA.

Thanks but the website you show says it gets mailed by post but you said no  to that. Does it get emailed to me same day as I order it? I want to be sure I have it in hand when I arrive but I'm reluctant to order it early due to changing covid restrictions.

Hello @Frab

Oh sorry, my fault. I wanted to write: … not via e-mail. You‘ll receive it via letter because it will be on a physical card (SwissPass). You can also buy it directly on a SBB counter, as soon you arrive in Switzerland. This way you can choose also same day validation and you‘ll get it on the counter.

Kind regards, VlaznimA.

Great and thanks. I assume when we arrive in Geneva Airport it won't be difficult to find the counter to make the purchase?

Hello again @Frab

After one day I realized you were asking about the Swiss Half Fare Card for one month for tourists, and not about the regular one year Half Fare Travelcard for Swiss residents. In this case you're right, you'll get this as an e-ticket if you buy it online. You can find the link with all information here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-halffare-car....

Thank you for your understanding and again - I'm sorry I was a bit confused. 😄

Greetings, VlaznimA.

Thanks again. And I will receive it, via email, the same day correct? I don't need to order it a few days early? It is important I know this as we arrive in Geneva at 7:30 in the morning and the SBB ticket offices don't open until 9.

Hey @Frab

Yes, you‘ll receive the e-ticket directly via e-mail.

Kind regards, VlaznimA.

Thanks everyone. On this website for the card I couldn't find where it said you get it by email. Perhaps I missed that but if not it would be great to have that added. On the Switzerland travel centre site (https://shop.switzerlandtravelcentre.com/?affiliateId=71&system=GB&affiliateid=71&affc=2b95327a-19f9...) it clearly says

  • "Available as print@home ticket / eTicket"
