How to book the train ticket with Family Card holer

SOLVED

Hello, someone who knows the information.

Good day. I have some confusion to book the ticket for train with family card.

I purchased Half-fair travelcard for me and my wife and I also got familycard for my sun (10age) via "Switzerland Travel Centre".

But little difficult thing is that I don't have idea what I should select when I book the train ticket for my sun. For adult, I know I can select train ticket fair with half fair travelcard option. But I don't know for my sun case. SBB Online and App shows only two option as "child with junior travelcard" and "child with Children's Co-travelcard". There are no "Family Card" option.

Can anyone help me to figure it out? What I need to select?

Thank you in advance. Have a wonderful day.

Best Regards, BH

Hello @BEOMHEE

Thank you for your request.

What kind of train would you like to book?

Are you booking a train journey in Switzerland? Then there is no need to buy an additional ticket for your son. You can show the Family Card at the controls. Your child will travel with you free of charge on the GA travelcard. As you have a Half-Fare travelcard, you only pay half the price for the ticket in Switzerland.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.Have a nice day.

Kind regards

Hello @Grits

Children from the age of 6 until before their 16th birthday accompanied by at least one parent (with a valid Swiss Travel System ticket) travel free of charge with the free Swiss Family Card

Children under 6 years of age travel free of charge together with an accompanying person (with a valid Swiss Travel System ticket). Simply add Swiss Family Card when booking and benefit. With it, children from the age of 6 until before their 16th birthday travel free when accompanied by at least one parent.

However, this offer is only valid within Switzerland, see here.

Kind regards,
Stéphanie

Thank you, @StéphanieB1. The main thing is that the ticket is to go all the way to Milan, so I understand that the half fare card would cover the adults (and the kids) through the Swiss part, and then there would be some fee for the Italian portion. But I cannot figure out what Tariff to choose for the kids: the options are No (which shows up on my quote as "child traveling unaccompanied" and I think charged accordingly), GA 1st class, GA 2nd class, half fare (which can only be assigned to the parents), junior card, and co-traveling child. The system won't let me choose half-fare and co-traveling child, and that makes sense. For "no," the kids get charged 75% of the fee that the adults are getting charged. And for GA 2nd class and junior card, the kids get charged 10chf. I'm not sure which to choose?

Thanks!

Hello @Grits

You can buy tickets for your children with the tariff of the junior card. The Swiss Family Card is accepted as a Junior Card.

Have a nice day. Greetings ZoeS

Hi, I have the exact same question as BEOHMEE, but I'm trying to get a ticket to go to Italy (Zurich to Milan). The kids would have Swiss Family cards (parents Half Fare cards). Would I choose "GA 2nd class travelcard for the kids? (it seems my only options available are that one or "junior card.") Thanks!

Hi Zoe. Are you saying that when I book tickets for my wife and I using the Half Fare Card option that I do not need to book any tickets for my children who will have a Swiss Family Card?

What if I want to reserve seats for them, in particular on the scenic trains?

Hello @desmonda

When you buy the Swiss Half Fare Card for you and your wife, you can put your children as travellers too, then will automatically generated the Swiss Family Card for them.
