Hello @Spiceman

If your ticket was issued by SBB, kindly contact SBB. Otherwise contact the agency with whom it was bought.

An exchange is not always possible, it depends on the ticket fare. As a general rule, Sparpreis and Super Sparpreis are not exchangable.

Thank you. I phoned SBB. I purchased a semi flexible “Sparepreis Europa” ticket which states ‘Exchanges Possible’. We did NOT buy a SuperSaver so we could exchange if needed.

We just need to change my ticket for the same journey on same day at a later time. I phoned SBB and they said I had to buy a full price ticket for the later train (which costs 2.5 times the price) and then call to get a refund for my Saver ticket. This does not seem to be an ‘exchange’ and the ticket clearly states it can be exchanged. We don’t want to wait to exchange the ticket at station as we want the choose seat on the later train.

Is it possible the person at SBB gave us incorrect information?? Thank you very much.

Hello @Spiceman

No, the person at SBB gave you the absolutely correct answer. Sparpreis Europa tickets cannot be exchanged yet be cancelled up to one day before the travel date. See information on the German Railway website: https://www.bahn.com/en/offers/saver-fare

I have no clue why it reads exchangeable, as this is only possible with tickets at regular fare (Normalpreis). By exchangeable, they might mean, have it cancelled and bought new.

Best regards,
Roland
