Hello, Can you please tell me what's the difference between point to point ticket and day saver pass? It seems like there is no difference as they are both valid for the chosen date but I'm not 100% sure. Thanks

Hello @Cristina1

A point to point ticket is valid on any train on a predefined date from 00:00 until 05:00 AM the next day for a single journey (1 ride) from A to B, e.g. Zürich - Geneva. With it you can take multiple stops along the journey, e.g. in Bern, but you aren't allowed to back-track or to ride the journey multiple times.

Does your point-to-point ticket indicate zone numbers (e.g. 110, 121), this means it is a point-to-point ticket of the local fare network (e.g. ZVV). It allows you unlimited travel within the indicated zones for as long as the ticket is timely valid (see validity start/end date/time).

The Saver Day Pass allows unlimited travel on any train on a predefined day from 00:00 until the next day at 05:00 AM. You can find more information on the advantages of the Saver Day Pass here:

A point-to-point ticket and a day saver pass are two different types of tickets or passes used for transportation, typically in the context of public transportation systems such as trains, buses, or subways. Here's a breakdown of the differences between them:

  1. Point-to-Point Ticket:

    • Purpose: A point-to-point ticket allows you to travel between two specific destinations, typically from one station or stop to another.
    • Usage: You purchase a ticket for a specific journey, specifying the starting point and the destination. This ticket is usually valid for a single trip only and is typically used for one-way travel.
    • Cost: The price of a point-to-point ticket is based on the distance between the chosen origin and destination, and sometimes other factors like the class of service or peak/off-peak hours. loklok apk
    • Validity: Point-to-point tickets are generally valid for a specific date and time or a specific train or bus service.
  2. Day Saver Pass:

    • Purpose: A day saver pass provides unlimited travel within a specified geographic area or transportation network for a designated period, usually a day.
    • Usage: With a day saver pass, you can travel on multiple routes and make multiple journeys within the defined area during the valid day. It allows flexibility and the ability to get on and off at different stops without having to purchase individual tickets for each trip.
    • Cost: The price of a day saver pass is usually fixed and not based on the distance traveled. It offers a cost-effective option for those planning to make multiple trips within a specific region or network.
    • Validity: Day saver passes are typically valid for a full day, starting from a specific time (e.g., from the first service in the morning until the last service at night). The exact validity period may vary depending on the transportation system and the specific pass purchased.

In summary, a point-to-point ticket is suitable for a single journey between two specific destinations, whereas a day saver pass allows unlimited travel within a designated area or transportation network for a whole day. The choice between them depends on your travel needs and whether you plan to make multiple trips or just a single journey.

Checking on what is the best ticket options to buy for my coming dec trip in Switzerland .

I am looking at the ticket from Zurich  Flughafen to Zermatt ,

Saver Day Pass (cheapest) - But I am not sure how long it takes to clear customs and get the luggage

Point-to-point Ticket followed by

Day Pass

(All with HFT)

Cons on Saver Day Pass from what I have read is that you need to take that particular train that you have selected and you can't change and if you missed the booked connection or wish to travel at another time, you can do it with some terms and conditions.

Can I know what is the difference between Point to point and Day Pass?

Thanks!

This answer is according to nekopoi, May Be, there are alternative answer of this question.

Hello @jannysmith

There is a difference between the Saver Day Pass and a Supersaver ticket.

With the Saver Day Pass you can choose what time you take the train. It is valid on the travelling day until 5am the next morning.

The Supersaver ticket is only valid on the train selected during the purchase process. We do not recommend do purchase this type of ticket when you travel by plain before taking the train, because it is difficult to estimate whether you will land on time and quickly receive your luggage.

I wish you an awesome time in Switzerland.

Kind regards, RahelW
