Hello and welcome to the SBB Community. What would you like to do?
Hello! Does Day Pass for Friends launched recently require all passengers from the same place? For example, I would go to Luzern from Bern, and my friends would go to Luzern from Zurich. Is it available for all of us to use the Day Pass for Friends? Many thanks.
Hello E-K,
I have asked the staff at the SBB office. They said that the day pass for friends would be valid after all people meet together. So I think it is not available if people depart from different locations. Hope the information is useful for you.
Hello,
When reading the terms it is unclear on whether the day pass friend for friends is eligible on my end. I am from Singapore, and have purchased a half fare card from KKday. Am I able to purchase the Day Pass for friends for usage with me and my friend?
Thanks for your help.
I don't fully agree, but indeed it is confusing: In the conditions, it is written that one person alone can use the friends day pass for outward and return journey ("It can also be used by one person travelling alone for the outward or return journey."). I understand this that one person can use the friends card for arriving in Lucerne, the other not. However here my questions: 1) does this one person need to be the same person for the outward and return journey, or can one person use it for the outward journey and another person for the return journey. 2) does the person using the pass alone need to be the one who bought it (i.e. the one whose name is written on the pass).
Thanks a lot!
Hello @Tide
The departure doesn't matter because it's like a normal day pass, but: The day pass for friends is only valid if all passengers are in possession of a Half-Fare travelcard or are under 16 years of age on the day of travel. In addition to the Half-Fare travelcards from the standard range, the Trial Half-Fare travelcard is also valid as the basis for this offer. The Swiss HalfFare Card from Swiss Travel System is not valid.
Further informations you'll find here.
I wish you a nice day.
Kind regards, VlaznimA.
Is the Swiss HalfFare Card the same as the Half-Fare travelcard?
If I am only in possession of the Swiss HalfFare Card, what would be the best option if we have 2 person travelling together?
Thank you.
Hi @VlaznimA , just to be sure, if i buy the day pass for friends via sbb mobile app, will i have it on my phone as a day pass and so will my friends? To @Tide‘ s point, if we start in different locations and meet in Luzern, what will we all show when we are not yet all together in the same train? Thanks
Hello @TeddySCH
At the ticket control, you must be able to show the ticket (Day Pass for Friends) and the subscription (Half-Fare Card). Without a Half-Fare Card, the offer is not valid and you will pay a surcharge on the train. If you buy this day pass with your login on SBB Mobile, it will be visible in the app. Otherwise, you will receive the ticket by e-mail and you can show it on your cell phone using the PDF attached. The same applies to the purchase on the website, except that the ticket can not be loaded on the app even with login.
Have a nice day.
Greetings, VlaznimA.
Hello VlaznimA,
It is still unclear if it is possible for two people departing from different locations (e.g., Zurich, Geneva) to use the same "Day Pass for Friends" that indicates only one person's name, to arrive the same destination (e.g., Bern). Is it okay for the person didn't buy the ticket to show the printed ticket + their half-fare card at the ticket control? Or, two people should always be traveling together?
