Booking through SBB

SOLVED

Hi, I am booking through SBB the following 2nd class trip on Aug 20:

Golden Round Trip (Lucerne -> Alpnachstad -> Pilatus -> Kriens -> Lucerne)

So do I book like this?

Onward: Lucerne -> Alpnachstad -> Pilatus> (CHF 22 with Half Fare card)

Return: Pilatus -> Kriens -> Lucerne)> (CHF 22 with Half Fare card)

Is the seat already reserved when I book like this?

Or should I book through this website? -  shop.e-guma.ch/pilatus-bahnen/en/tickets

It costs CHF 56 roun5d trip with Half Fare card + CHF5 for reservation.

Is this site reliable?

Please advise.

thanks

Kris

Hello @Kris1

It doesn't depend where you book it both sites are safe. When you book it on our site, you don't have automatically a reservation.

When you need a refund, you need to contact the company where you have booked it.

Greetings, AuroraD.

Hello @Kris1

You can get these tickets easily at the SBB Travel Center in Lucerne (1st floor). There is no need to buy them in advance as they do not sell out.

As a local, I do not suggest buying mountain excursion tickets in advance. What will you do in case of bad weather? Only buy them the day before your planned trip, once the weather forecast is clear, or on the day of travel. Weather forecast in Switzerland is never safe for more than 2 days out.

Kind regards,
Roland

Thanks Roland.

This helps a LOT. You are right. I should book it on site to make sure the day is sunny and the ride is ON. You have mentioned tickets should be available. Will the price remain the same with a Half Fare Card whether I book today in advance or on the day of travel onsite? Please advise.

Thanks

Kris
