Hello and welcome to the SBB Community. What would you like to do?
Hi
I am flying into Zurich airport in mid-March and land around 9.30am mid week, as this time is not guaranteed just wondering what is the best train ticket type and best price timeframe to purchase, for a train from Zurich airport to Andermatt ski resort. Then the return tickets too.
I plan to stay for 5 days in Andermatt.
Many thanks
Hello @JJBoard ,
If you are looking for a direct travel from point A to B, in your case Zurich airport to Andermatt. You can save money by booking in advance with so called super saver tickets, you will have to take the specific trains you booked. (Like @RolandP said, be careful when you look at the price, the super saver fare start with a % is by default displayed assuming you are with a half fare card) From what I checked just now, a random Thursday (16th) in mid march the super saver ticket rate is around chf 15 to 20 (So, for you without a Half fare card, 30 to 40)
The point to point ticket will cost you 50.2 chf as roland said, you depart at anytime you want, you can even stop in the middle of your journey and hop on a later train.
I recommend Saver Day Pass if you are planning also on doing some little trip already on your arrival or depature day. You will be able to use all kinds of transportation (except things like Jungfraubahn, Titlis etc...). For example in the middle from Zurich to Andermatt here is mont Rigi, lake zurich, zug, luzern... The boats and cogwheel trains are included in the Saver Day Pass. It starts from 52 CHF but from what I saw the price for the middle of this month is already at around 70 to 80, at the end of the month it is still at 52.
Hopefully you will find the info helpful 🙂
Many thanks for your kind efforts and time, most appreciated. Best Wishes.

Is the saver day pass (without half fare travelcard) also valid for free travel across switzerland?
Hello
Is the saver day pass (without half fare travel card) also valid for free travel?
Hi, just looking for point to point tickets for 23rd March, looks like this offer is not available now, its this because the period is too close to the selected departure date? I've check a couple of routes and no point to point offer/upgrade option.
Hello @JJBoard ,
Point-to-Point tickets cannot be sold out. I checked the route and the date chosen and there are both available the Point-to-Point tickets and Saver tickets.
An example under the following link: Travel data | SBB
For Snow and Rail offers for Andermatt take also a look at: Snow’n’Rail Andermatt-Sedrun-Disentis - SBB
I wish you a lovely day
Kind regards MelanieD
The point to point tickets cannot be sold out, it could be the website was under short maintenance while you were checking your ticket. In fact from what I checked, you also have super saver tickets available. Again, depends on your need, for flexibility, book point to point tickets, for saving some bucks, choose super saver ticket and use the specific trains you booked.
Looks like point to point is cheaper at present (33CHF), does booking these earlier save money?
A regular ticket, 2nd class, full fare, Zurich Airport to Andermatt, departure any time is CHF 50.20.
Best regards,
Roland
Be careful when checking tickets, the default price is a "from price".
I think this is correct from reading? Saver Day Passes can be purchased from 60 days in advance via the SBB, Without Half Fare card: from CHF 52
The earlier you book, the cheaper you travel.
Hopefully. Thanks
Is the Saver Day Pass the best option, happy with 2nd, standard class, one adult travelling with no rail cards. Thanks
