Total Amateur Needs Help!

Hello all, I'm planning a trip to Switzerland this month and I'm not sure what to buy for public transportation around Lucerne and Zurich.

We will be flying into Zurich, train to Lucerne, Mt. Pilatus, Horw, train to Zurich, Rhine falls, train to ZRH.

Does this itinerary merit a swiss pass, or should we buy indiviual tickets? What about the half fare pass?

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks, Jacy  Woman Happy

Hi JacyOnTheFly

It’s difficult to say which travel card suits best for you. It depends on the duration of your stay and the number of days’ travel.

Depending on the trips you intend to do by train, a ticket of the Swiss Travel System could be better than an ordinary/standard ticket: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests.html

You may calculate the price of an ordinary/standard ticket here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/ticketshop/b2c/adw.do?125

If you know the prices of every single journey, you may easily compare it with the offers of the Swiss Travel System.

Kind regards
