24 hour ticket and delayed train

I often buy a 24 hour train ticket (4 zones in Zürich).  If I wait for a train that is valid with the ticket, what happens if the train is delayed?


With a multi-card, it only needs to be valid at the start of the trip. Can I use it on a train that gets delayed past the 24 hours?


With a single-24-hour ticket (must be valid until end of journey). What happens if the train is delayed after I get on (still valid), so my ticket expires before the end of my journey?

If the train, which is normally within the validity of your ticket, is delayed, you can take that train. The best thing to do is to get a confirmation from the train crew or counter staff.
