Subject: Traveling in Basel area with monthly ticket (RegioCard Light) & Swiss Half Fare Card

I am from Hong Kong and I have a Swiss Half Fare Card & a Family Card for my kids.

I will be traveling for 1 month in Basel area with my family (wife, 7 year old girl, 9 year old boy). I will stay in Dornach and would like to do sight seeing in Basel. I will take SBB train and I will also take tram in Basel.

1) As a foreigner, is there any monthly ticket for my travel in Basel to use? Is it called "RegioCardPlus Light (102 CHF)"?

2) If I can purchase as a foreigner, what is the price with Half fare card? will it be 51CHF?

3) Do my kid need to purchase the 25 and under ticket (80CHF)? Can they travel free of charge if we have a Family Card?

Hello @Michael416

Thank you for your request.

1) You can buy the Regio Card Plus light: https://rvl-online.de/tickets/regiocard-plus-light/ The Regio Card is also valid in the border area in Germany.

You can also buy a TNW monthly card: https://www.tnw.ch/en/tickets-preise/abonnemente/das-u-abo

2) With the Half Fare Card you have no reduction on the monthly and annual tickets. You have a reduction only on individual tickets and Saver tickets.

3) Your children do not need an additional ticket. They can travel free of charge with the Family Card.

I wish you a nice day.

Kind regards,

MarinaZ
