Swiss Travel Pass Refund or Re-Issue

I purchased 2 Swiss travel passes for me and my wife for travelling dates between 11th April to 14th April 2020. Due to covid lockdown and restrictions on travel in respective countries, the holiday was cancelled at that time and the pass was not utilized / used. Now, i am planning to travel in May 2023 and need help on getting refund / re-issue of my Swiss travel pass. pls help

In this case you should approach Rail Europe as they had obviously given you a wrong answer. Hopefully you have this statement in written form to make them pay for the wrong information. However, Rail Europe is not SBB, it's a travel agency.

Honestly, I would have been very astonished if any SBB employee would have told you that an exchange after its validity is possible.

I hope there will be a resolution of this issue and that you will visit us soon.

Hi Roland

Thank you for your wishes. Ticket was not cancelled as the journey was planned later on and it was assured by SBB that due to covid situation this ticket can be used in future by only getting it re-issue with date change. However, while doing so now they are denying to refund or reissue my passes.

The pass is not used till now so, just wanted to know how can i get it re-issued..? i do not want refund as i am going to travel in Switzerland in May 2023. i just need my passes re-issued with new dates.

pls help.

A refund after three years is no longer possible, aswell a reuse is not possible. I can not understand what you were told three years ago.

Thank You for the information. 

I received the information from SBB that if your pass is not activated then a refund is possible that is the reason i am trying get the refund. The case is linked with covid situation so, i am trying to explain the same for a possibility of refund. If you can guide on passes purchased before beginning of Covid situation then it would be helpful.

Welcome back to Switzerland! But, a refund request after 3 years?

Kindly note, a refund is only possible before the first day of validity. You would have been required to cancel it in time, latest when it was clear that travel is not possible.

My Travel agent has confirmed that the pass was not cancelled and after contacting Rail Europe, they said it can be converted into re-issue later stage when the travel resumes.

The pass was not activated nor utilized.

Thank you of the advise. I have given a mail to Rail Europe and they replied saying we have stopped accepting request of refund for covid situations now, the last date to get the refund was September 1, 2021. Still, I am fighting with them and there was no proper communication was done about the said refund date or policy. After several mail exchanges, they finally asked for my reference number which I received in mail during booking. they said they will check the details and get back soon.
