Supersaver ticket_Zermatt to Geneva Airport

I have booked a supersaver ticket from Zermatt to Geneva Airport, with a change at Visp. Wanted to check that if my incoming train to Visp is delayed due to any reason, can I board the next available train to Geneva Airport, or do I have to buy a new ticket?

Hello @ajisb123

In the event of train cancellations, delays or line interruptions, you can use the next possible connection without buying a new ticket with confirmation from the control or sales staff.

Have a nice day,

Thanks for sharing. Can you please share the process for obtaining confirmation from ticket control or sales staff?

Hello @ajisb123

The confirmation from the conductor is not need for this route; the conductor on the connecting service can verify the delay / misconnection using a special app on his ticket control device once you present him the ticket and the original itinerary.

Best regards,
Roland

OK. So does that mean I should just board the next available train and share details with the conductor of the train that I board

Hello @ajisb123

Yes. SBB train conductors (as I am) can look-up realtime train schedules from all railways and verify if your train was indeed running late. Simply indicate the original itinerary.

@StéphanieB1 ´s answer is absolutely correct, a confirmation is required according to the conditions; however, from pratice, I can tell you that for the Zermatt to Visp route it is unrealistic to get a confirmation as, in case of a delay,  there are hundreds of passengers wanting a confirnation and the conductor would simply run out of paper and time 🙂

On the other hand, trains from Zermatt are rarely running late - be optimistic.

Best regards,
Roland
