Saver day pass and GA card

SOLVED

Hi, I'm visiting Switzerland for two weeks in September and sorting out train bookings.
Tckets advertised as 'Saver Day Pass' have a prompt: "Valid for one person in the GA travelcard area of validity."
So, does that mean I would need to also buy a GA travelcard to be able to use this sort of ticket ?  I think those cards are mostly for residents so would be better off with one of the visitor passes.

Thanks in advance.
Tim

Hi @timmo08

Thanks for your request.

The Saver Day Pass is valid throughout the validity area of the GA: (https://www.sbb.ch/content/dam/sbb/de/pdf/abos-billette/abonnemente/ga/karte-geltungsbereich-ga-halb...). On the ticket, it is therefore not mentioned "from A to B".

On some trains, it is possible to reserve your seat before the journey begins. Information about this subject can be found here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/seat-reservations.html.

Hello timmo08,

The Saver Day Pass is valid on the selected day and in the same area of validity as the General Abonnement (GA).

You’ll find more information about this pass on the following link: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/tickets-for-switzerland/1-day-travelpass/saver-day-pas....

Greetings,
SarahI

Thanks Sarahl, so basically I can buy a saver day pass on line (e.g. 52CHF Geneva-St Moritz) and present it for travel (download or print) on the day without anything else (GA card etc), unless I went for the half-fare travelcard option (probaby not worth it for a short visit) ?

Exactly @timmo08 , Saver Day Passes are available with or without a Half-Fare travelcard. Depending how much you want to travel, it would be a good idea to buy a Half-Fare card.

Greetings,
SarahI

Thanks @SarahI think it all makes sense now.  Probably not doing enough for the half fare card, trying to decide if the 4 day flexy pass might be cheaper/easier.

@SarahI, sorry to return to this but hopefully a final query or two.

I've just bought a Saver Day Pass for the journey and date required. On the pdf downloaded I notice that it doesn't show a from/to location but does have a note that is it "valid for travel on GA travelcard area routes in the relevant class."

Does that mean it is valid for any route/train on the day concerned (within in the GA travelcard area), not just the one I originally booked it from ?

And is it possible/necessary/advisable to reserve a seat (I couldn't see an option for this during the booking) ?

Thank you.
