Half-price card start date

Ruta
New Author

I would like to buy a train ticket in advance to arrive in Switzerland from another country. I will also renew my expired Half-price card. What can be the latest start date of the validity of the Half-price card - can the validity start date be the same as the first day of travel, or should the start date be the day on which I purchase the ticket? Thank you.

Hello @Ruta

The Half-Fare Card can be purchased up to 2 months in advance. You can also buy it at the counter upon arrival in Switzerland. However, you can then use this only from the purchase at the earliest and must buy a ticket for the journey to Switzerland (if traveling by train) at the normal rate.

You can find all informations about here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/railpasses/half-fare-travelcard.html
or https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/inspiration/international-guests/swiss-halffare-card.html

I wish you a nice day.

Kind regards,
