Correct use of SwissTravelPass FLEX with child + tickets to France

SOLVED

Hello everyone.
I'm going on a short trip around Switzerland, with overnight stays in different towns. I also visit France. I'm trying to figure out how to use the SwissTravelPass correctly and what tickets I need to buy. Please help me to clarify a few questions.
1. I want to use STP on several non-consecutive days, for example, January 03, 06 and 07. So, do I need to buy Swiss Travel Pass Flex 3 days in 1 month? Its price does not increase even if I buy it already in Switzerland on the day of arrival? Or is it better to buy it in advance online?

2. A 12-year-old child is traveling with me. Do I understand correctly, that he travels with me with my STP for free?

3. I will leave Switzerland for a couple of days via Martigny to France, to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc and Aneccy. Do i need to buy train tickets to Chamonix in advance or in the day of travel the price will be the same?

4. And maybe you can advice me, what is the best way to get from Chamonix to Aneccy (it seems like not by trains) ...?

Hello @Gala99

  1. Yes, you would have to buy the STP Flex 3 days within 1 month. The price is the same if bought online or at the ticket office. The advantage of the online version is, it cannot get lost. The paper version from the travel center will not be replaced in case of loss. However, you need internet access to activate each single travel day. Alternatively, if you travel for 3 days only, you could compare costs for a Saver Day Pass and a Children Day Pass.
  2. Your daughter will travel free of charge if you have requested the complimentory Swiss Family Card. You can get it when purchasing the pass online or at the travel center. Your daughter travels for free when accompanied by you.
  3. In order to know the STP's validity, I suggest you are consulting the validity map. The STP is valid as far as Le Chatelard la Frontière. From there you need a ticket. You can buy the ticket at the station in Martigny.
  4. You can travel by train using French railways: https://www.sncf-connect.com . However, it would make sense to visit it from Geneva (much faster).

Best regards,
Roland

Thank you very much for your answer.
You have given me a lot of information, but I have not been able to figure out all the details yet. I would appreciate your clarification:
... I looked at the Daily Save Ticket, it is already more expensive than STPflex, probably due to the fact that these are vacation days.
2. Tell me, please, until what time is the Swiss Travel Pass Flex valid - if I activate it, for example, at 10 am, will it be valid for a day until the next 10 am?
3. Did I understand correctly that the price of the Swiss Travel Pass Flex is not growing? That is, even if I buy it on the day of the trip - its price is fixed and it is always available for purchase?

Hello @Gala99

  • No. The validity period for the activated days starts at 12:00 a.m. on the day of validity and ends at 5:00 a.m. on the following day (in 24h clock: 00:00 to 05:00 the following day).
  • As stated earlier, the price will not change over the time.

You can find a lot of useful information by looking at the STP FAQ site: Tickets – Help Center Switzerland Tourism (myswitzerland.com)

Roland
