Question about Swisspass and my tickets

I have a Swisspass account in anticipation of my trip in April.  I also have my rail tickets, but I cannot see my tickets on my SBB.CFF.FFS site.  It says that I have to have a customer number, which I cannot seem to find anywhere.  So as I understand it, it is one thing to have a Swisspass.ch account, but I also have to get a Swisspasscard and since I am in the US, I will need my passport photo to satisfy the Swiss ID requirements.  Am I correct or am I missing something?

Hello @lohsnest

Thanks for your post.

Yes it is correct. Anyone with an email adress can create a SwissPass login and register on the website www.swisspass.ch
This website is used to manage one's travelcards, invoices, personal data and so on.

With this same login (email + password) you can log in on www.sbb.ch as well, and purchase rail tickets. You can then find all of your purchased tickets under "Orders":

To be able to purchase a travelcard, on the other hand, you need to be registerd in our SBB system, and we can only do so by verifying an ID. Once you have a customer profile on our system, you get a customer number and a physical SwissPass card (that is why we also need a photo).

If you wish to buy a travelcard, you can do so at any SBB ticket counter as soon as you arrive in Switzerland, by bringing an ID and a photo.
In general, most of our offers for international guests are available as e-tickets and do not require a customer number. Here you can find out more: International guests | SBB

Our colleagues from the SBB Contact Center (0041 848 44 66 88, CHF 0.08/min, 24/7) are happy to help you further should you have any questions.

I wish you a good day and a great stay in Switzerland.
