Zermatt to Milano Centrale

New Author

Hi. I am planning to travel from Zermatt to Milano Centrale. However when i attempt to buy the ticket on SBB mobile app it shows that the message "Ticket purchase not possible".

1,   Should i be buying a ticket from Zermatt to Visp using the SBB app and Visp to Milan using the Trenitalia separately?

2.  Am i right to say that the half fare travel card will only be applicable from Zermatt to Visp?

3.  Do i need to make seat reservations, if so can i do on the app or in person at the train station?

4.  What is difference between supersaver ticket($9.40) and supersaver class upgrade ($7.20) with half-fare card? Why would a class upgrade be cheaper?

5. Is it true that tickets are no longer required to be validated before travel?  Does that apply to tickets bought on the SBB app?

Thank you very much

Hello @hobbs

Tickets to Italy are only available in the webshop, using, yet not in the SBB Mobile app.

The Half Fare Card is valid as far as Domodossola. When you select half fare, the system will automatically alter the fare for the Swiss stretch.

You can buy it with Trenitalia, too, no difference. If you travel on the Eurocity, you need a reservation from Domodossola to Milan.

Best regards,
