SBB travel pass or Swiss half fare card?

Bushiobrao

Hey!

My family and I are going to be traveling to Switzerland for 8 days. We plan on travelling completely by public transport, and use the trains as much as possible.

We are a family of 2 adults and 2 minors and are wondering, what would be more affordable? The SBB travel pass or the Swiss half pass? We are going to be staying at Interlaken, and travel around the country from there.

Also is it advisable to learn basic German?

Thanks in advance 😄

Hello @Bushiobrao

Thank you for your query.

For shorter distances and single trips, the Swiss Half Fare Card is more worthwhile. Because you mention in your post that you want to travel together for 8 days through Switzerland, the Swiss Travel Pass is the better option for the whole family. Children under 6 years travel free with a companion card and children between 6-16 years travel free with a companion card. And Children from the age of 6 up to their 16th birthday accompanied by at least one parent travel free of charge with the “Swiss Family Card”.

You can find all informations here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-travel-pass....

I wish you a pleasant stay within Switzerland!

Kind regards,
