I am reading the following on the SBB website:
- Currently, public transport travelcards such as GA, Half Fare, Regional, Point-to-Point and Modular Travelcards, the Junior Travelcard and the Children’s Co-Travelcard as well as P+Rail Travelcards are available on the SwissPass.
- Individual tickets are not yet available on the SwissPass
- The Swiss Travel Pass Youth gives young persons under 25 a 30% discount on the Swiss Travel Pass. It offers the same validity.
- Children from their 6th up to their 16th birthday accompanied by at least one parent (holding a Swiss Travel System ticket) travel free of charge on train, bus, boat and mountain railway with the complimentary Swiss Family Card. To receive the Swiss Family Card directly, add the child as a passenger under ‘Add passengers’ when you buy your Swiss Travel Pass.
We will be one adult and 2 kids age 12 using trains and buses in/near Zurich & Bern, traveling between Zurich & Bern and then taking the train to Paris.
Please let me know the following:
1. Which travel card out of the many listed would benefit us?
2. If I would get the Swiss Travel Pass for me, would I also need the Youth version for the kids? I am confused by "Children from their 6th up to their 16th birthday accompanied by at least one parent (holding a Swiss Travel System ticket) travel free of charge on train, bus, boat and mountain railway with the complimentary Swiss Family Card. ". Do kids travel free or do they need a Youth Pass?
3. Does the Swiss Travel Card provide a discount for trains from Bern to Paris?
4. What does this mean: "Individual tickets are not yet available on the SwissPass". I assumed that the SwissPass is used when buying individual tickets. It shows that it covers "Unlimited travel by train, bus and boat".
Your help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.
