Grindelwald to Paris Gare de Lyon reservation on SBB?

Hi, I'm now making plans for my trip to Switzerland and France.

In the past, I booked a train in Switzerland on SBB and made an another booking like Basel to Paris on SNCF.

*Grindelwald -> Interlaken Ost -> Basel -> Paris Gare de Lyon

However, today I found out the full journey from Grindelwald to Paris Gare de Lyon could be booked on SBB !! The system seems to be changed because my last trip in Europe was 10 years ago.

I wonder that I don't need to book a train for international section from Basel to Paris Gare de Lyon at SNCF website?? or should I still make an another booking for Basel to Paris at SNCF Website?

Please help me.. Thanks a lot in advance 🙂

Hello @TaeSeong

Thank you very much for your question.

Everything depends on availablility of course, but there is a littel trick you can try.

Do two separate purchases: one from Grundelwald to Basel, and another one from Basel to Paris.

Since the part of the journey within Switzerland is always available, maybe it is better to do the Basel-Paris leg first: depending on whether you get a ticket or not (maybe try different times/dates), you can buy the national tickets afterwards.

I wish you a nice day.
