Connecting RE train St Moritz-Tirano after Glacier Express arrives in St Mortiz

Hi ,

We are planning our travels in December.

We want to travel on Glacier Express #902 that departs Zermatt 0852am and arrives St Moritz 1637pm. We plan to catch RE 1649 Departing St Moritz 1648pm and arriving Tirano 1900pm. Is that sufficient connecting time? If we have a Eurail pass, is it valid for St Mortiz-Tirano? Do we need a seat reservation?

Rgds.

Dear NikolasK,

Thank you for your prompt response.

I checked the train schedule. After ETD 1648pm, there are 2 later departure timings but non-direct service. ETD 1748pm and ETD 1848pm from St-Moritz to Poschiavo; both will require a bus connection at Poschiavo to Tirano (ETA 2000pm and ETA 2100pm). Do these routings usually operate in winter (December) month? Is Eurail pass valid for these buses? Do we need a seat reservations for buses? Are tickets available for purchase on these buses?

Rgds.

Hi @EsmondTan

Thank you for your request.

I cannot guarantee that the connection to Tirano will be possible. If there is a lot of snow, it may have delays.

We have a Timetable change on 11 December 2022, it is possible that the departure/arrival times will change a bit. The reservation for the Glacier Express is available 3 months in advance, i advise you to contact us in mid-September on +41 848 44 66 88 (0.08/min.) or, if this number doesn't work, on +41 51 225 78 00.

The Eurail pass is valid for Tirano, you do not need a reservation for the regional train St. Moritz - Tirano,

Have a nice weekend.

Regards
NicolasK
