About construction work in April : grindelwald to interlaken

SOLVED

Hi everyone

I’d like to ask you guys about construction work in April.

I’m going to travel around Switzerland from the end of April to the beginning of May.

Then I found out there will be some interruption due to construction work.

. Grindelwald to Interlaken ost on 30/4

. Interlaken to Zermatt on 1/5

Those two are trains that I wanna get on.

My questions are:

1. Is a bus replacement easy to find out at the station? Can we check the timetable on the website beforehand?

2. Does Swiss Half Fare Card include the replacement bus too? Or we need to pay for the alternative transport in the field ?

3. how different is  the amount of time required when going to destinations by buses, comparing to by trains ?

Sorry for some grammar mistakes

it’ll be so great to get answers , Thank you

Hello @Kawamu

The engineering work is from 17 Apr to 29 Apr. Consequently, you are not concerned. Kindly check the public transportation schedule on sbb.ch/en or by using the SBB Mobile app.

To answer your questions (for those being concerned):

  • The timetable (sbb.ch/en) is updated accordingly and will only show bus replaecement schedules; travel time is shortly longer.
  • Buses leave at the left hand side from the Interlaken Ost station building; you will see the buses when you leave the SBB train.
  • All tickets which are usually valid on the train are also valid on the buses.
  • Bus service to Lauterbrunnen will have the line number 311 while the bus service to Grindelwald will have the line number 312.
